RECENT WORK - A GREAT GLAM LOOK!

I recently did some airbrush makeup for a friend of mine as she wanted a glam but polished look for her graduation.

Below are the pics of her before and after and even with me applying her makeup. She kinda looks like a voluptuous take on Jessica Rabbit lol :)!

Her look encompassed false eyelashes that were cut to make her eyes more almond shaped and elongated as well as evening out her skin tone with Temptu Airbrush Makeup.  Contouring was applied but not too harsh and obvious.

HOW TO GET RID OF THOSE PESKY PIMPLES CHEAPLY PART 1

Hi guys!

My intention is to create a series of articles to help deal with some of the biggest problems that we go through regarding our skin.  I firmly believe that makeup will not work or fulfill its purpose as good as it should if the skin is not receptive or smooth.

Pertaining to my captioned, this is an age old question that always brings out the worse in us, be it depression, sadness or even just wanting to hide from the world for the period of time until they go away.

Pimples occur for different reasons as most people know and they can appear on both young and old and create the feelings I describe above.  One of the biggest factors for them is inadequate skin care, whether we use incorrect products or not enough of the right ones, and then they magically appear.

I can tell you that even I get them, have them right now, unfortunately because I am on vaca and everything went haywire with my skincare regimen.  But I can tell you that there are homemade items that can help but patience truly is a virtue and will def apply here.

One of the best ways that I know and subscribe to is to use Baking Soda from Arm and Hammer.  When you wet it, it becomes like a paste and you can use it allover as a mask and wash off immediately.  It creates a softer surface on the face and helps to reduce the inflammation and within a week they should disappear with no scarring (try not to pick them).  Note however, not everyone can use them especially those with extra sensitive skin.

So another option that should be gentler is using oats and creating a paste and using as both an exfoliator or even as a mask.  The end result is very soft skin and even your makeup goes on better as it acts like a primer prior to application.

In my next blog, I will introduce some additional ways that are inexpensive and SAFE!

GREAT LIPSTICK FOR THE BRIDE AND THE MODERN WOMAN

Thanks to my friend BGD, Brandy Gomez-Duplessis, she gave an overview of the newbies making a splash on the international market - OCC LIP TARS.  They have been featured on YOUTUBE in particular and have been dissected with all the diff colours.

As a makeup artist, I also have to be mindful of the products, what the newbies are, the trends and also what really works. As such, I glanced at them, then reversed or as how us Trinis say it 'wheel' and I am really going to get them.

The product carries hemp and peppermint oil which should be soothing (will need to ensure that the really sensitive lips could take it)  to make the lips feel soft and pliable.

See the link here for her review.  When I get them I will def try and post the results.

CONTINUATION OF FOUNDATION REVIEW

Hi again!

I seem to be on a roll today, thank god for the holiday!

Anyway, I am back again to continue my review of the foundations that would be great for the most encountered skin type out there in Trinidad, at least! Combo Skin....

I mentioned that Maybelline and Black Opal were my favorites...now lets look at the others -
Revlon Colorstay and Loreal Mineral Foundation.

Revlon ColorStay is a liquid makeup that purports to be longlasting and smear-proof...personally I didn't really think it stood up to my personal requirements... My nose turns into Rudolf and its not Christmas!

However, to be fair, customers - especially the asian ethnicities, swear by it and I am glad that it can provide the coverage and longetivity that they are looking for.

Its application is pretty simple as its a liquid, don't use your hands as they have bacteria and can be very messy. Use a sponge or better yet a synthetic brush that will evenly distribute the foundation on your face. Afterwards, use the sponge to ensure its blended properly.

With regards to Loreal Foundation, I liked its shape and portability and ease of use. However, it was difficult to find my shade and as you can guess, did not get my exact shade. To me, I think its perfect for lighter skin tones.

Could be messy and a lot of foundation could be loaded on the brush and transferred onto the face, thus creating patches. Overall, I think its ok just wish that additional darker shades were available.

Hint hint to Loreal!

Next post I will be showing off my makeup and makeup box so people can see what I use and carry for jobs!

BODY ART SAMPLES

Guys I am so sorry for the late post but I've had some other projects that I was working on...like my expo appearance in Hilton Trinidad (that's on the 25 April) and coming up with designs for Point Fortin Borough Day (May 02).

I also want to do the Miss Point Borough Pageant, but we'll see - keep fingers crossed.

Anyway, I will get back to my last topic however, before I do that check out some of my samples I had done for Radical Designs Jouvert Band.

Foundations for Different Skin Types

In my experience, besides airbrush makeup, there is NO ONE type of over the counter foundation that can address everyone's needs of coverage and long lasting finish.

So, I will be reviewing a series of foundation makeup and I will suggest how best women can use the products and the little tricks that go along with them.

First up - Combination Skin
This consists of both oil and somewhat dry skin, where typically the T-Zone area is oily and the cheeks are dry.

I fall within that category and out of all the makeup that I have tried, I prefer maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse Foundation and Black Opal's Mousse Foundation.

Both of them are whipped like mousse and is extremely light on the skin and carries a lot of pigment, meaning that there's a ton of colour and you don't need to apply much.

It handles the combination skin really well and doesn't break down like the creams or create additional oils on top of our noses.

In addition, women of colour don't need to worry about finding their shade, the fairer and olive skinned shades can go with Maybelline and the warmer to darker skin tones with Black Opal.

To apply, you can use a sponge, its the easiest and cleanest way and just 'stipple' it on. This means to pat in and not smear on the skin. Set with powder.

They both give matte finishes and beautifully even out the skin tones without the cakey look.

Check them out, give them a try and let me know!

Carnival Makeup Pics from C2K9

Well, I can finally put some 'pen to paper' and talk about my experience with Carnival and the makeup applications...It was fun, hectic and of course didn't get a chance to do all the makeup I would have liked to do...but I am happy with how they turned out.

From 1:00 a.m. we were out from Point Fortin and our first stop was at Woodford Street. From then on we went straight to the Mas Camp and it has been pace since then...my body still is recovering.

Check out some of my pics! My album is on my both my website (see on the right) or facebook page!

I just want to say again thank you for your patience and your willingness to wait for me...I really hope it was worth it.

Next year, I am going full on airbrush with not just the makeup but the body as well (as in abs etc), so look out for that.

Makeup Ideas for C2K9

My intention for masqueraders this carnival is to have really pretty & seemingly elaborate eye makeup. Check out some of the pics above that I have drawn inspiration from and also intend on DOING for this season!!

Now, these will only drive the inspiration and of course some variations are going to emerge. Another site that carries, I think, exciting makeup is Queen of Blending - www.queenofblending.com.

I am really looking forward to putting my own spin on them and I will definitely post the final looks on Wednesday!

Skin Care for that Carnival Heat

I had a ton of questions as to whether the airbrush makeup will last the heat of the day into the evening and I will say this...in my experience and on my own face, I have noticed that once my skin was given a mask and exfoliated, the makeup held on for dear life!

It created a glow that I know cannot be created external to the face. It even reduces the amount of makeup that is required on the face, leaving it clearer and having more of your own skin on show.

I recommend that you invest in a good cleanser that is specific to your skin type. I have noticed that most people suffer from the combo skin - shiny 'T' zone and dry everywhere else. Especially for the heat, something that carries SPF but NOT OILY!! Preferably one that mattifies the skin.

Another golden rule, drink lots of water to keep the skin hydrated and the mas bands have the portable 'potties' so you don't have an excuse not to drink. Remember, the alcohol can also wreak havoc during that very hot day on your body, so please do in moderation.

So ladies and men (yes men), I implore you, please improve the skin care, even after Carnival. It refines the face, reduces spots and lines. I can go on and on but basically for the very vain of us out there, spend the money on the skin care first and then the makeup.

Update on Location & Info on Airbrush Makeup

Hi folks!

My team and I are finalising our 'home'/location for the Carnival Tuesday, so don't feel that I have forgotten to contact you...its taking a bit longer than I would have hoped but we will get there...

I hope you recall in a previous blog, that not all the Makeup Artists would be using Airbrush Makeup. In fact, out of the three of us, I would be the only one doing it so its really 1st come, 1st serve, apart from those that have already booked, of course!

Just some more info on the type of makeup I will be using - Temptu. Check out the link here!

Recent PhotoShoot - Mature Skin

These pics you see represent a recent makeover I did on a woman with more mature skin recently.

I specialise in Before & After transformations with my little airbrush machine...Incredible right?!

Monica was doing her own photoshoot that same day and wanted to look special...I think that was achieved.

Shocking Eyeshadow Pigments

Someone asked me recently for some really shockingly intense colours - as she put it - she wants to be seen from down the street :)

There is no doubt that there are tons of makeup that profess to do that but I have seen the stalwarts like MAC, HIP Loreal that can put their money where their mouths are and they can be really intense. The trick is to layer the shadow until you get the level of intensity you desire.

I have seen the matte versions actually stand out better than the shimmery ones...I love the shimmery versions especially for night life, but to each her own...

The good thing about Carnival is that excess is more and there are no mistakes. Makeup is to just have fun and put some swagger into it!
